CONVERTS PEAT INTO MULTIPURPOSE COMPOST Chempak Multipurpose Compost Base is precisely balanced to allow germination of seeds, yet strong enough for vigorously growing plants. It makes a true multipurpose compost – this is ideal for all growing environments, inexpensive and gives superb results. MAKES 100 LITRES - Sufficient compost for at least:- 28 seed trays or 240 x 3½” pots, or 80 x 5” pots or 40 x 7” pots, or 25 x 8” pots or 18 x 9” pots, or 12 x 10” pots or 3 x growing bags. WHERE TO USE For use with seed trays, houseplants, troughs, planters, hanging baskets etc. Do not use for 'lime hating' plants. HOW AND WHEN TO USE Peat: Use a good quality moss or sedge peat. Sand: Use horticultural grit, sharp sand, or substitutes like perlite or Vermiculite. Ratio: Use 3 parts peat to one part sand or perlite (by volume), alternatively use ALL PEAT. TO MAKE ONE SEED TRAY OF COMPOST Measure: Fill one standard seed tray (approx. 14” x 8½” x 2”) with peat or peat/sand mix. Add 1 level measure of Base. Mix: Empty into a clean level surface and mix thoroughly. Made: Leave one or two days before use. TO MAKE 9 LITRES (2 GALLONS) OF COMPOST Measure: Fill a 2 gallon bucket with peat or peat/sand mix. Add 2½ level measure of Base. Mix: Empty into a clean level surface and mix thoroughly. Made: Leave one or two days before use. TO MAKE 36 LITRES (8 GALLONS) OF COMPOST Measure: Use a 2 gallon bucket and measure out 4 buckets of peat or 3 buckets of peat and 1 bucket of sand/perlite. Add 10 level measures (300g) of Base. Mix: Empty into a clean level surface and mix thoroughly. Made: Leave one or two days before use. TO MAKE 100 LITRES (22 GALLONS) OF COMPOST Measure: Use a 2 gallon bucket and measure out 11 buckets of peat or 8 buckets of peat and 3 buckets of sand/perlite. Add the entire contents of this pack. Mix: Empty into a clean level surface and mix thoroughly. Made: Leave one or two days before use. STORAGE OF MIXED COMPOST Best results with all composts are achieved when freshly made, therefore mix as required. Mixed compost is best used quickly, but can be stored for up to six weeks if kept cool and dry. NOTE: Supplementary feeding with a Chempak Liquid Fertiliser is recommended after 4-6 weeks.
